Discover SWUFE International Summer Camp 2014

On May 19, 2013, Agora University of Oradea, Romania and The Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) in Chengdu, China has signed an Agreement of Cooperation including visits and training periods for the students.

The Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) in Chengdu, China has invited Agora University students to go and experience life as an international student in their university this Summer from 29st June to 12th July. At this camp you will be able to attend a series of lectures (delivered in English) by leading professors from SWUFE and get the chance to meet with senior professionals from local business. To give a sense of local culture you will get the chance to learn about Chinese calligraphy, martial arts, traditional music, and cuisine.

The program is about more than just academic/professional learning; the focus is on providing an unforgettable experience and introduce you to all aspects of life in China. The “Discover SWUFE 2014” summer camp is open to students from Agora University and other partner universities,  and all local activities are free of charge, including course fees, accommodation, transportation around Chengdu, and meals. The only costs that you need to pay are for visa application, insurance and the flight ticket to Chengdu.

The application deadline for Agora University students is March 31st, 2014, and they are hoping to recruit 2 students.

Welcome message from the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation
The Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) invites you to come and experience life in Sichuan, China, as an international student guest.  This is your chance to be an ambassador for your university and experience life at one of the top universities in China. In return we offer you an authentic ‘taste’ of modern day life in China.  This is a diverse two-week program combining study, travel, and visiting local businesses; giving you a short but wonderful experience of SWUFE, Sichuan, and China in general.
The “Discover SWUFE” 2014 Program
The Discover SWUFE program is designed to give you a memorable and powerful two-week encounter with SWUFE and China. You will attend lectures, delivered in English, by leading professors from SWUFE and also get the chance to meet with senior professionals from local business.The program is about much more than academic/professional learning; our focus is on providing an unforgettable experience that will also take you on a journey into other aspects of life in modern China.

If you enjoy exotic cuisine, the unique foods in Chengdu and Sichuan can be savored in the famous Jinli Street. If you enjoy theatre, the breath-taking traditional Chinese mask changing performances are unbelievable. If you like history and culture, we will show you the local World Natural and Cultural Heritage Sites, such as the Sichuan Panda Sanctuaries, the famous Wuhou Shrine, Mount Qingcheng, the Giant Buddha at Leshan, and much more!

You will also get chance to learn Chinese calligraphy, martial arts, cooking and traditional music! These experiences combined will give you a unique and first-hand understanding of Chinese culture, language and business.

Program Cost
This exciting experience is our invitation for you to have a wonderful time in our university and country.  We will pay for all other costs of this two-week program (course fees, accommodation, transportation around Chengdu, and meals).  But probably you will want to bring some of your own spending money for unique gifts to take back to your friends and family.

Shi Yong is a Professor and Distinguished Chair of Information Technology, College of Information Science and Technology, University of Nebraska at Omaha. He also holds the title of Honorary Professor of a number of universities in China, such as Southwest Petroleum Institute, Xi’an Petroleum Institute, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, East China Normal University, Chinese University of Electronic Sciences, and Xi’an JiaoTong University. Dr. Shi won many awards and honors, such as Outstanding Young Scientist Award (National Science Foundation of China, 2001); Member of Overseas Assessor for CAS (2000); and Speaker of Distinguished Visitors Program (DVP) (IEEE Computer Society, 1997-2000). Dr. Shi's current research interests are data mining, information overload, optimal system designs, multiple criteria decision making, decision support systems, and information and telecommunications management. He has published numerous papers in the field of multiple criteria and multiple constraint-level (MC2) linear programming.  He is the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Information Technology and Decision Making and an Area Editor of International Journal of Operations and Quantitative Management.

Pascale Zaraté is a Professor at Toulouse 1 Capitole University. She conducts her researches at the IRIT laboratory ( She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Sciences / Decision Support from the LAMSADE laboratory at the Paris Dauphine University, Paris (1991). She also holds a Master degree in Computer Science from the Paul Sabatier University, Toulouse, France (1986); as well as a Bachelors degree Toulouse, France (1982). Pascale Zaraté’s current research interests include: Decision Support Systems; distributed and asynchronous decision making processes; knowledge modelisation; cooperative knowledge based systems; cooperative decision making. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Decision Support System Technology (IGI Global). Since 2000, she is head of the Euro Working Group on DSS ( She published several studies and works: one book, edited two books, edited 11 special issues in several international journals, two proceedings of international conferences, 22 papers in several international journals, two papers in national journals, five chapters in collective books, 26 papers in international conferences. She belongs the Editorial Scientific Committee of three International Journals: Journal of Decision System (Lavoisier), ComSIS, Intelligent Decision Technologies (IOSPress). Prof. Ioan Dumitrache, graduated the Faculty of Energetics, University "Politehnica" of Bucharest (UPB), Romania, 1962, Polytechnic Institute from Worcester, SUA, 1969, Fullbright Fellow-1971 and has a Ph.D. in Technical Physics (UPB, 1970).Since then his research and teaching activities covered an large area of automatic control techniques, electronic control, genetic algorithms, advance control algorithms, intelligent control systems, intelligent control of industrial robots, concurrent engineering.He is the author of more then 250 published papers, editor of 14 books as: Intelligent Manufacturing Systems 1995, Supplementary Ways for Improving International Stability 1998, Large Scale Systems: Theory and Applications 2001 and contributed to more then 20 books in these fields.

Antonio Di Nola is Full Professor of Mathematical Logic and Director of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Salerno. Since the nineties he has been a leading proponent of the study of algebraic models of Lukasiewicz logic (MV-algebras), the most important among the many-valued logics. His contribution to the study of MV-algebras, witnessed by the seventeen citations of his works in the fundamental monograph "Algebraic foundations of many-valued reasoning", includes: a functional representation theorem for all MV-algebras (aka Di Nola's Representation Theorem); the discovery of categorical equivalences between categories of MV-algebras and categories of groups, rings, and semi-rings, profitably used in the literature of MV-algebras, the discovery of an equational axiomatisation of all varieties of MV-algebras, and a normal form theorem for Lukasiewicz logic. Today is actively committed to apply ideas from algebraic geometry in the MV-algebra and in the study of probability which admit infinitesimal values. He is author/coauthor of more than 150 scientific works, published on international journals of logic, algebra and computer science.
